HIGH SCHOOL

Rodrigo grew up in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and attended Colégio Impacto, where he helped his team secure second place in the national championship. He played club volleyball for Tijuca Tênis Clube and Fluminense Football Club, making history as the youngest player to start for an adult team in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

By age 15, Rodrigo was a starter for four different teams at his club—U15, U17, U19, and the senior professional squad. His dominance in youth volleyball included:

  • Tijuca Tênis Clube: State champion for U15 and U17 in the same year.

  • Fluminense: State champion at U17 and U19, national club champion, and runner-up in the South American Championship.

  • Brazilian National Teams: Represented Brazil at U13, U15, and U17 levels, playing on the U17 team at just 15 years old.

  • Beach Volleyball: Won state titles at U15, U17, and U20, including the U17 state championship at just 14 years old.

  • International Success: Won the U15 National Championship and the U17 South American Championship, representing Brazil in Montevideo, Uruguay.

  • World Stage: At 16, Rodrigo was selected for Brazil’s U20 national team, competing in the FIVB U21 World Championship in Catania, Italy, where his team reached the quarterfinals.

COLLEGE

Rodrigo earned an athletic scholarship to Brigham Young University (BYU), one of the top volleyball programs in the United States. He played during the 2005-2006 season before a back injury forced him to retire. Despite his shortened career, Rodrigo left a mark:

  • Earned Mountain West Conference High GPA honors for his academic excellence.

  • Recorded his career-high performance against Ohio State.

  • Named team captain for the following season before his injury.

PROFESSIONAL CAREER

Rodrigo’s professional volleyball career spanned both indoor and beach volleyball, where he competed at the highest levels:

  • Indoor Volleyball: Played professionally for Fluminense and Petrópolis, competing in Liga B, Brazil’s second-tier professional league.

  • Beach Volleyball: Competed in the Brazilian Professional Tour, finishing among the top 20 teams in the country—out of more than 100.

  • International Success: Earned a 3rd place finish in the South American Championship.

COACHING & TRANSITION TO BUSINESS

After retiring as a player, Rodrigo transitioned into coaching, quickly gaining recognition as a top volleyball clinician and youth sports expert. His coaching journey included:
